Gary Smith (UK) - electric guitar A veteran of the UK underground music since the early 1970s, Gary unleashes mindbending switchback solos. He has previously recorded alongside Spontaneous Music Ensemble founder John Stevens, US percussionist Joe Gallivan and Japanese drummer Shoji Hano of High Rise fame.

Smith is also part of the driving force behind Mass, a hardcore improvised music ensemble. Through his formation The Acme Quartet,

he collaborated with legendary singer-songwriter Bill Fay in the late 70s/early 80s.

Smith developed the concept of stereo guitar, where the signal is run through a splitter box connected to two volume pedals and a pair of speakers. He then started to integrate a whammy pedal, allowing opposite frequencies to coexist.

Gary Smith has been a permanent member of Aufgehoben since the recording of their 3rd album, "Anno Fauve" in 2001. He is currently working on a project with Bernhard Gunter. This is one rare performance.
